How You Can Help
Behind every successful week is a dedicated team of volunteers working to set the stage. This role focuses on the logistical groundwork required before camp begins. Responsibilities include organizing counselor applications, addressing and stuffing envelopes for various mailings, prepping curriculum materials, and assisting with the set-up and transformation of Playland Campground. This is an ideal fit for those who prefer organized, task-oriented service that ensures a smooth start for our volunteers, teenagers and children.
Adult volunteers in Playland provide the essential supervision and mentorship needed for our younger campers. In this role, you will support our teen counselors by overseeing small group rotations through music, crafts, and games. Your presence ensures a safe and orderly environment, particularly during outdoor activities and pond time. This position is vital for maintaining a nurturing atmosphere where Gospel-centered teaching can flourish.
Serving with our Wilderness program involves guiding older elementary students as they engage in more challenging activities. Volunteers act as coordinators and mentors, assisting counselors during off-trail explorations and structured group competitions. The goal is to provide a mature presence that fosters character development and helps students apply Biblical principles to their daily adventures and team interactions.
The evening crew ensures that our campus and staff are well-supported after the main program concludes. This team focuses on hospitality and facility management, including meal service for our hardworking counselors and resetting activity stations for the following day. This role is perfect for those who want to serve in a high-impact, practical way that keeps the momentum of the week going strong.
After the final session, our Post-Kamp team handles the orderly closing of the program. Volunteers assist with inventorying supplies, dismantling decorations, and restoring the grounds to their original state. This short-term commitment is crucial for ensuring all equipment is preserved for future use and that our host facility is left in excellent condition.

To get started, simply register through our volunteer registration link! Once you’ve signed up, a member of our leadership committee—specifically Karen Haines—will reach out to you to discuss your placement. Yes! To ensure we have enough "Sonshine" to go around and to keep our camp organized and safe, every adult serving at K4K must complete the official registration process.
Safety is our top priority, so all volunteers whom will come into contact with children or teen counselors must provide a valid Child Abuse History Clearance and a Criminal Record Check. Once you have these documents, please submit them to Karen Haines or Cochranton Community Church. You can drop them off in person at Cochranton Community Church or email them directly to Linda at linda@ccubchurch.org.
To make sure everyone is prepared for an epic week, all volunteers are required to complete our online training program. Depending on your specific role at camp, you will be asked to watch certain training segments. After finishing your required portions, you must submit a watch confirmation form to fulfill your training requirement.
After you register, Karen Haines will be in touch with you to confirm your specific role and details. You can expect to hear from her by June 1st at the latest; if you haven't received your placement by then, please feel free to contact her directly at 814-573-2226.
